CIBS Center — Vanderbilt University Medical Center

The Critical Illness, Brain Dysfunction, and Survivorship (CIBS) Center at Vanderbilt is a world-leading research and clinical program dedicated to improving outcomes for ICU survivors. Their work spans delirium prevention, long-term cognitive impairment, and PICS recovery — and their resources are freely available to patients, families, and clinicians.

Critical Illness Recovery Center (CIRC) — UPMC Mercy

The CIRC at UPMC Mercy is a specialized outpatient clinic designed to support ICU survivors and their families after discharge. The program provides comprehensive follow-up care addressing the physical, psychological, and cognitive effects of critical illness — one of the few dedicated post-ICU clinics in the country.

Post-ICU Recovery Clinic — Cleveland Clinic

Established in 2019, the Cleveland Clinic's Post-ICU Recovery Clinic brings together critical care physicians, pharmacists, physical therapists, and respiratory therapists in a multidisciplinary approach to recognizing impairments and providing therapeutic interventions for patients and families following critical illness.

The Post-ICU Recovery Clinic at UCLA's Ronald Reagan Medical Center is a multidisciplinary team of physicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, and more — dedicated to helping ICU survivors navigate the physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges of recovery.

Clinic for Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) — UTHealth Houston

The UT Physicians Clinic for PICS at the Texas Medical Center in Houston provides individualized, comprehensive evaluations for ICU survivors. Patients receive a thorough psychiatric, medical, and emotional assessment covering memory, sleep, breathing, and quality of life. The team reviews and adjusts medications from the ICU stay and coordinates with specialists including psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists, nutritionists, and physical and respiratory therapists. Education and resources for PICS-F (family members) are also provided.

PICS Research Program — UCF College of Nursing

Dr. Brian Peach, Associate Professor at UCF's College of Nursing and Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine, leads cutting-edge PICS research including a virtual reality exposure therapy trial for ICU survivors. His work spans PICS awareness, advocacy for a formal ICD-10 diagnostic code, and national collaboration through the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the PICS Advocacy Network. Dr. Peach also co-founded Orlando's Walk-4-PICS campaign.

Recovery and Return (R2) Clinic — Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

The R2 Clinic at CHOP is a specialized pediatric program supporting children and families during recovery from PICU stays — including cardiac arrest, traumatic brain injury, sepsis, and other critical illnesses. Their multidisciplinary team of critical care, rehabilitation, neuropsychology, and neurology experts helps children manage physical, cognitive, and behavioral challenges as they return to school and daily life.

Critical Care Recovery Clinic (CCRC) — Mount Sinai

Launched by Mount Sinai's Institute for Critical Care Medicine, the CCRC is a telehealth-based multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to addressing the complex needs of ICU survivors. Their team of critical care physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and spiritual care providers assesses and treats PICS, helps patients process their hospitalization, and connects them to ongoing support services. The CCRC is an active member of CAIRO.

The community is moderated by Mayo Clinic staff and provides a safe, compassionate space for those navigating life after critical illness — alongside access to Mayo's clinical expertise.

Critical Illness Recovery Center — National Jewish Health

The Critical Illness Recovery Center at National Jewish Health in Denver provides coordinated, personalized care for ICU survivors experiencing PICS. Their multidisciplinary team — including critical care specialists, physical therapists, psychologists, neurologists, and sleep specialists — offers everything from single screening visits to comprehensive follow-up care. NJH is a member of the SCCM Thrive Initiative.
